I use digital masks in this video which were hand drawn by my seven-year-old, and they depict me as her vision of a "nice mother" and a "mean mother". We used a customizable TikTok face filter template developed by the artist Chris Collins to create the piece. As the "nice mother" version of myself I embody the ridiculous and unattainable stereotype of that role. As the "mean mother" I depict myself as I really am. This piece is a reflection on the external and internal pressure and conflictedness of motherhood as a role one must play, especially during a global pandemic.
